Design Process

Design services can range from a single consultancy visit to complete project management.
The usual stages include the following, of which 1 & 2 are free of charge.

1. Site Visit and Brief

This involves seeing the space(s) and talking through what you are hoping to achieve.

The aim of this initial meeting is to establish a complete understanding of what is required, including how the room(s) are used, and any ideas you may have on colour and furnishings.

2. Proposal

The proposal includes a quotation which sets out all fees on a room by room basis.

Once the proposal is accepted, a return site visit is arranged for a measure-up and photographs for reference.

3. Outline Plan

This is a pack including a mood board, concept images, colour scheme, furniture layout (on a scaled plan), plus fabric and product suggestions.

4. Drawings / Proposal

The drawings set out precise dimensions, levels and construction details to enable your home to be fully designed. Bespoke items such as kitchens and bathrooms are detailed and the technical specification drawn up to include standards of workmanship, sourcing of materials and suggestions of suppliers.

5. Tendering and Project Management

To implement the design I work with experienced and reliable building contractors, who are committed to the highest standards of workmanship and professional conduct.

Project management includes handling the competitive tender process, analysing and negotiating with the contractors, and monitoring their work from start to finish. All products and materials are ordered personally to ensure the project progresses smoothly and efficiently and to maintain quality control.

6. Delivery

Key to the whole process is close liaison with the client to ensure that the finished design exceeds clients’ expectations, and is delivered on time and within the agreed budget.
